A night in heaven
Records and radio just aren't the same
after you've been to a concert.
The band is on stage, the music is
blaring, and the crowd is clapping to the
music,
During the 1983-84 school year many
groups performed in the Omaha area
including, Kansas, Heart, Styx, Quiet Riot,
Genesis and Kiss. After the last strains of
encore had faded talk of a concert went
on for days and the concert goers decked
themselves in t-shirts as remembrances of
the event.
"The best concert I've ever been to
was Triumph, because they had an
excellent light show and I like their music,"
said junior Brian Moore.
"The best concert I've ever been to
was AC/DC, because it was an excellent
concert, they really know how to excite the
crowd," said junior Kim Moore.
For students who couldn't go to a
concert there was an answer if they had
cable television. They could watch Music
Television (MTV). The radio was left off and
the sound of Sweet 98's J.J. Taylor and
Z-92's Joe Blood weren't as popular any
more. We were now watching the per
formers and seeing the video jockeys (VJ's)
like Alan Hunter and Nina Blackwood.
Before Genesis came on stage The crowd listens intently as
Feb, 4 at the Civic Auditorium, Heart sings one of their hits,
Phil Collins, lead singer of "Barracuda",
Genesis, sang his solo hit “You
Can't Hurry Love".
