Putting to the invite
Junior Karla Breazeale, otherwise known as the
team caddy, usually carried four-eight bags of golf
clubs in the trunk of her car. The morning of the
Ralston-Westside Invitational, the car wouldn't start,
so Breazeale couldn't bring the clubs to school with
her. Temporarily without clubs the team was quite
nervous, but did regain its composure and place 5th
in the invite,
Despite golf's reputation as being a leisure sport,
much practice time can be found behind a round of
nine holes or an invitational. Golfer Dave Girouex
noted that he plays 18-27 holes of golf per day during
season and practices daily for six hours.
Tournament playing is another way of sharpening
golf skills. "It gives you a lot of experience for pressure
situations and you get more relaxed with every
touranment," said Girouex (that is if the caddy
remembers to bring the clubs.)
