During the past fifty years, and even long
er, many have provided for Saint Thomas
Academ y. Skills, talents, resources and
friendships have unselfishly come to the aid
of Catholic education and the particular
project of Saint Thomas. But one name m er
its special recognition for loyalty for so long.
Mr. Ignatius A. O'Shaughnessy is a fifty year
friend of Saint Thomas Academy.

The expanse of Mr. O'Shaughnessy's gen
erosity both in gift and time is greater than
steel beam or concrete. It has been a service
to generations of Academ y students. It is
because of that — because the focal point of
education is the student — that we make a
special anniversary dedication.
This dedication not only concludes the fif
tieth edition of the Kaydet, but in fact marks
the end of half a century. Throughout that
time, Mr. I. A. O'Shaughnessy has been not
a reviewer but a builder. It is because of him
and those like him that this is true — Saint
Thomas Academy, based on tradition, is di
rected toward the future.
