important position," Ryan confessed. Ryan caught for JV

"Two words to describe my team:
always improving."

I T his year's JV team had a fun season. With mostly freshman on the team, there
was a lot of inexperience. The coaches for this year’s team were new to RHS; coach
Doughty and coach Kelsey spent a lot of quality time instructing the players. The JV
team is made of up juniors, sophomores, and the freshman who filled up over half
the positions. The players had to work extra hard to get everyone used to playing
with each other. Freshman, Alex Johnson described the team in two words, “push
97.” Freshman Alyssa Garcia, also described the team as, “always improving.” This
shows that the team always wants to get better and improve. Everyday the players
are working hard at practice and learning new skills. "My favorite position is
outfield. You never know what you're going to get, and you always have to be
moving. Nothing is better than being able to get the out and help the team,"
Elizabeth Mcarty stated. It is not easy getting a whole new team together. After just
a couple weeks of practice, the girls are thrown into the season.
Jordyn Hatcher commented, “My favorite part of softball is meeting new people,
and working together with my teammates to get better.” Even though the season
did not go the way the team wanted in terms of wins and losses, they had fun and
got to meet new people.
