Teamwork Makes the Dream W ork. Varsity
volleyball girls get together and talk about their
moves for the next game. "Without teamwork it's
not volleyball." says Michelle Saqui.
ven though the volleyball team struggled with wins and losses this season,
they persevered with teamwork and dedication. The team had a lot of new varsity
players after losing six senior starters from the year before. Michelle Saqui says, "If
six players were combined into one person the game would consist of no success.
You'd need enough support from other players." Teamwork is a big thing for
volleyball girls as is communication.
Communicating throughout the game is an important skill that you need to have
in order to have a successful game. “An important skill for volleyball is
communication because you have to talk to call for the ball to make a perfect pass
which is also another important skill to be successful,” says Haile Bartlett.
Juggling school, sports, and work is a struggle for athletes. It's a lot to focus on
many different tasks, especially if one of those things takes up so much of your
time when you have something else important to do. "Managing school, volleyball,
and other things can be a little overwhelming at times," says Bartlett. In order to be
so involved, most athletes are organized. Saqui says, "It's very hectic but overtime
you develop skills. As an athlete you're expected to meet high standards which
pushes you out of your boundaries."
