Pep Talk. Coach Bo kneels down to his varsity team to go through their game plan during a timeout. You have to have a personal
relationship to keep them motivated, if you have that, they will want to work hard," explains coach Bo.
T. his year the boys were faced with many challenges. “This season is different
because of the new offensive/defensive system we use and the addition of a few
transfers,” describes sophomore Jeff Evans. Despite their challenges, the boys managed to
keep a close bond and laugh a lot throughout the season. Many players said they felt like
leadership was a main part of this year. Senior Mercel Lewis says, “This season is different
because I’m more of a leader and others feed off my advice.”
Memories were definitely made this season for a lot of the players. “My favorite
memory from this season was making Alex’s Jimmy John’s sandwhich an unwhich,” jokes
Senior Michael Mackey; Evans agreed with this funny moment. But a few players didn’t
get a whole season to make memories, like transfer students senior Connor McDonnell and
sophomore Chaz Cullum.
"Adjusting was interesting because there were moments where I was unsure about if
this was right for me but later on I realized how much better this school is for me,"
explains Cullum.
There were many celebrations through the boys basketball season regardless of the
amount of wins or losses. "I celebrate a win by turning up in the locker room!" says Lewis.
Bus rides home after a win also seemed to be a highlight of the season. Coach Bo says
there are some important things we wants the players to take away from this season,
"How to be a good teammate to one another and improvement." As the seniors wrap up
their final season, and the underclassmen put down the basketballs, the boys can look
back at this year as memorable and influential on how to adjust for the future.
