l[ he Cougars had a strong showing throughout the NCCAA National
I t Volleyball Tournament in Ankeny, Iowa, winning all four matches
of their pool play. During the single-elimination tournament, the
team beat Nebraska Christian on Friday night and then won a hard-
fought contest against Simpson College on Saturday, placing the Lady
Cougars into the championship match against Providence College. Un
fortunately, the team fell short of a championship title, but they fin
ished with another outstanding season. This year’s second place finish
recorded the fourth runner-up finish along with four national champi
onship titles for the volleyball team over the last
eight years. “In the end,” said Coach Denny, “the
ladies worked hard and improved tremendously
over the course of the season, which was demon
strated by their strong showing at nationals.”
Jenny Goodson was named MVP of the tourna
ment and along with Cindy Compton was
awarded First Team All-American. Kerri Lamborn
received an All-American Honorable Mention and
was named to the All-Tournament Team. Mindy
Tennison was this year’s scholar athlete. “We had
so much fun this season, and we definitely played
our best at nationals,” said Jenny. At the begin
ning of the season, they didn’t think they’d make r
it to the final four, but they never gave up. They ‘
