“In Gods providence and His perfect timing, He calls T (U> L e /iA -
men to service,” said Clayton M. Custer, chairman of the board, dM
at the Sept. 28 presidential inauguration of Richard Alan
Stratton, Ph.D. In his inaugural address, Dr. Bob Jones, III
said that a Ph.D. by itself can destroy a college. It must stand
for “Praising Him Daily, Petitioning Him Diligently, and Prac- dy
ticing His Disciplines.” Dr. George Youstra, president emeri
tus, charged his predecessor to “Press on toward the mark of
the high calling.” Dr. Arthur Steele, chancellor, gave a dedica- frhA
tory prayer. Dr. Stratton’s response to the challenge was that of tA jZ fa
Proverbs 11:14: “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in C A jw n ^ c A jt ■
the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” He thanked the 121:9
Lord for his multitude of counsellors and said, “The pursuit of
God is an amazing thing. I am unworthy, but I serve an al
mighty, unchangeable God.”
