After the charge and dedicatory prayer, Dr.

Stratton issued a personal address. He

talked of his father’s powerful influence and

thanked family members, including “his big

sister,” for their support. He also acknowl­

edged Dr. Jones as a mentor, relating a hu­

morous story concerning a rotated stop sign

during his junior high years.

The college was honored to have Dr. Jones

give the address at both Dr. Youstra’s and Dr.

Stratton’s inauguration. In 1981, Dr. Jones

handed Dr. Stratton his undergraduate di­

ploma at Bob Jones University.

All the past presidents of the college were

present at the inauguration of Dr. Stratton.

Dr. Arthur E. Steele 1996-1980, 1981-1986;

Dr. Gary G. Cohen 1980-1981; Dr. George D.

Youstra 1987-2002.
