Community service activities are important for the

college family. Not only do these activities let people learn

more about the college, but also they help an organization or

a cause. In the fall, the students had the opportunity to be

involved in the Buddy Walk. It was a benefit walk for children

who suffer with Down Syndrome. Special Education major

Jennifer Williamson, who helped promote the event on cam

pus, was thankful for the turn-out of willing people who had

the desire to volunteer on behalf of Down's kids. Being able

to help out with the event caused those who volunteered to

forget about the stress and anxiety school brings and to have

fun and to play with the special needs children.

Helping in the community is important; and as Chris

tians, helping should be an important part of our lives. For

   | many, this opportunity was new. Leigh Chamberlain said,

"The Buddy Walk this year was a new and exciting experi

ence for me! I'd never done anything like that, so when Jen
