SATELLITE IS A NEW
TEACHING METHOD.
xperiencing a different method of
teaching and learning, the students in
the division of business interacted
with some state-of-the-art technology.
The department had definitely been
keeping up with the trends of modern technol
ogy to educate and enlighten the students.
Living in Pennsylvania, Dr. John Cassidy,
Chair of the Division of Business Studies,
worked for Graco Children Products, Inc. At
the same time he was able to communicate
with his college students in Clearwater. In or
der to send both live visual images and the
voice of Dr. Cassidy, the department used a
high-tech electronic system composed of a
television, six phone lines, a type of modem,
and a satellite. This allowed Dr. Cassidy to be
in two places at once.
While the students grasped the concepts of
business and finances, they experienced the
modern technology of the electronic world.
Sarah Stewart comments, "It's a trendy, new
method to teaching."
