                                                                                     the  week  of  October  6-10,  as  students  got
                                                                                                             ready  for  the
                                                                                                             homecoming

                                                                                                             Thomas
                                                                                                             Jefferson.
                                                                                                               The  week
                                                                                     started  with  Sweats  Day,  when  students
                                                                                     showed  off  their  sweat  suits.
                                                                                       Tuesday  was  Hats  Off  Day.  Students
                                                                                     and  faculty  displayed  their  crazy  and
                                                                                     “vogue”  hats.
                                                                                       Cowboy-Cowgirl  Day  was  Wednesday.
                                                                                     Students  displayed  their  different  cowboy
                                                                                     outfits  which  ranged  from  the  traditional
                                                                                     to  the  “urban  cowboy”  look.
                                                                                       The  annual  Snake  Dance  was  also  held
                                                                                     Wednesday.  The  students  made  a  human
                                                                                     chain  down  to  Ft.  Ralston  where  they  had
                                                                                     a  bonfire.
                                                                                       Thursday  was  Crazy  Sock  Day,  and
                                                                                     students  displayed  their  crazy  socks,  but
                                                                                     added  a  little  extra.  The  sophomores
                                                                                     dressed  to  freak  out  T.J.,  juniors  all
                                                                                     dressed  in  p.j.’s,  and  the  seniors  dressed
                                                                                     in  togas.
                                                                                       Thursday  evening  each  class  decorated
                                                                                     a  section  of  the  gym,  as  the  first  event  in
                                                                                     the  Mock  Olympics.
                                                                                       Friday  was  Over-All  Spirit  Day,  and
 I                                                                                   almost  everyone  wore  overalls  or
                                                                                     suspenders.  Students  and  faculty  were
                                                                                     released  early  in  order  to  compete  in  the
                                                                                     Mock  Olympics.
 i                                                                                     Faculty,  on  the  advice  of  Mr.  Bob
                                                                                     Benzel,  decided  to  boycott  the  Mock
                                                                                     Olympics.  “We  merely  took  our  cue  from
                                                                                     President  Carter,  who  asked  patriotic
                                                                                     Americans  to  boycott  the  Olympics.
                                                                                     Those  teachers  who  boycotted  were  even
                                                                                     presented  with  a  gold  medal.”
                                                                                       Tragedy  struck  the  Mock  Olympics
                                                                                     when  the  freshmen,  sophomore,  and
                                                                                     junior  prettiest  girls  were  kidnapped  by  a
                                                                                     band  of  mysterious  thieves.  All  candidates
                                                                                     were  returned  unharmed  later  that
                                                                                     evening.
                                                                                       Seniors  and  sophomores  tied  for  first
                                                                                     place,  freshman  placed  second,  and
                                                                                     juniors,  third.
                                                                                       The  week  ended  with  a  36-0  victory

                                   Snake  Dance.  The  annual  Snake  Dance  was  held  October  8,  from
                                   7-9  p.m.  Activities  also  included  a  bonfire,  and  the  burning  of  a

                                   lack  of  competition.
                                    A  new  ev en t  adds  laughter  to  the  Olympics  as  senior  Scott
                                    Dugger  tests  his  skill  in  the  Cotton  Ball  Race  Cotton  balls  were
                                    placed  on  the  nose  with  vaseline  and  the  object  was  to  blow  the
                                    puff  off  without  using  any  hands  The  seniors  gained  first  place  in
