or the first time in the high
F school swimming history the boys’
and girls’ teams were combined for the
winter season.
“The combined season had its
advantages and disadvantages,” said
Coach Hill. “It was hard for Coach
Spencer and 1 to get around to
everyone and help the swimmers as
much as we would have liked to.”
The highlights of the girls’ season
were defeating Westside for the first
time in 13 years of girls’ swimming and
placing third at the Metro Conference
meet.
“I thought the third place finish at
Metro was great, considering the size
of our school and swim team,” said
junior Gayle Kullenberg.
The boys’ team was young and
inexperienced with only two seniors.
“I’m looking forward to next year,”
said Coach Hill, “1 think the team will
be just as good or better.”
“1 thought it was really fun
swimming with the girls and
everything,” said junior Jon Buklin.
“I’m looking forward to next year’s
swim team.”
