• Always use ethernet or cable network, rather than
WiFi (which likes to disconnect you during a study
- been there, done that).
• Check that the mouse works properly (a customer
sitting on my mouse almost ruined the research).
• Check the power source (oh yes, I’ve run out of
power).
• Avoid any non-standard keyboard shortcuts
(again custom settings on my Mac made it really
awkward).
• Turn off all the unnecessary software (taking extra
care with Skype and Messages).
Avoid these lame mistakes and you’ll be good.
