REWARD OR PUNISHMENT : WHICH IS MORE
EFFECTIVE ?
Reward and punishment both are integral parts of one’s life. When a person makes a
mistake, it is necessary to get a punishment to learn from the mistakes but at the same
time for a good thing is also necessary to encourage the person.
As I said, both reward and punishment are necessary in one’s life, but I personally
prefer reward is more effective. When a person is rewarded for doing something good
for the society or excelling in his/her field, it motivates the person to work harder and
also it boosts up his confidence level. Reward in any form whether it is award or
money is always very encouraging. A reward motivates the person to work even
harder and achieve a bigger reward than the earlier one. Reward also plays a vital role
in a child’s life because when a child is rewarded, he starts taking his jobs more
seriously even though it may involve cleaning his room only. A reward is not only a
source of motivation for the common people but also for the person who is good in
his respective field. For example, a sportsperson gets awards like Rajiv Gandhi Khel
Ratna Award or an actor gets a Filmfare Award which motivates them to work harder
and get an award but at a higher level.
