REWARD OR PUNISHMENT : WHICH IS MORE
EFFECTIVE ?
'Reward or punishment, which one is more effective' is the question which we usually
think off. Rewards are given when we do something really great and punishments are
given when we do something wrong. In my point of view, rewards must be given. The
people must see the positive side of a person and encourage him/her to do something
good. Sometimes, reward do not really work. Punishment should be given if the person
has done something wrong. Punishments are usually given to a person who isn’t
listening in spite of regular warnings. If we do not give punishment, then it becomes a
habit for the person to get indulged in wrong things frequently.
For example: a person who commits crime every day and is being given warning for it
but still continues to do so is to be punished for the crimes he has committed. His family
members should then call the police and get him punished for his sins.
There are many advantages and disadvantages of punishment. The advantage is when a
person gets punished for his wrong deeds then he won't do anything wrong again. A
person not only gets a punishment but also learns a lesson for what he has done. The
disadvantage is that sometimes punishment doesn’t work. Sometimes the person
becomes so used to it that it becomes his habit to repeat it again and again. When a
person is given reward, he gets a chance of improving is ability. Whereas, the
disadvantage is that he may become overconfident and then if anything goes wrong, he
isn’t able to bear it. -Riya Yadav (XII-A)
