REWARD OR PUNISHMENT : WHICH IS
MORE EFFECTIVE ?
Everybody knows that there are two types of actions- Reward or Punishment. We all are
familiar with both of them. Which one would you like? Obviously, we all will choose
reward because no one likes punishment. Punishment is always seen as a negative term
by everyone. But, sometimes in the punishment, a reward is hidden. Everything that
happens in the world has something positive as well as negative. Reward also has a
positive as well as a negative side. If a person is rewarded, then it means that he has
improved and is on the right track. But the negative part is that he may think that he is the
best and no one is better than him. Reward is a gift given for doing good work. However,
it is not necessary that a person should be rewarded for each and every action. The person
should feel that he has got the reward after doing something good.
Punishment and reward are the two sides of a coin. Punishment has a positive as well as a
negative impact. If a person is punished, it doesn’t mean that he has done something
wrong. Instead, it means that he needs an improvement. Punishment is nothing but
'correcting someone's mistakes'. Punishment is mostly considered a negative term,
however it is more effective than a reward as through punishment, we get to know our
mistakes. No one is perfect in this world, at everyone tries to grow to the fullest. We must
remember that whether we are rewarded or punished, we must have a positive outlook to
cope up with the problems easily.
