                     This lesson will cover pages 09-25 of chapter 01.

               Materials Needed:
                     Chapter 01
                     Computer
                     Interpersonal Communication Skills Test

                     Vocabulary List

               Objectives:
                     Define and understand what interpersonal communication is
                     Summarize the models of interpersonal communication
                     Recognize the ability to participate effectively in a diverse society

               Time: 50 minutes

               Overview:
               Prior to the reading, students will complete the Interpersonal Communication Skills Test on the
               computer. They will print the page with their score, put their name on the document and turn in to the
               instructor. Following the skills test, students will read and review the vocabulary list. They will be asked
               to define the terms they are familiar with and circle the terms they are unsure of. Students will be given
               15 minutes to complete this activity. Once they are finished, the instructor will review the list of terms
               and ask for feedback from the students. The remaining list of terms will be discussed.

               A brief introduction to the chapter will be presented by the instructor. Students will be assigned to read
               pages 09-25 of chapter 01 for homework.

               Activities:
                     Vocabulary List
                       - Define the terms they are familiar with and circle the words they are unsure of.
                       - This will be follow up with w discussion reviewing all of the terms.
                     Self-Assessment
                       - Answer the questions in the self-assessment
                       - Print out score sheet and turn in to the instructor.
                     Read pages 09-25 of chapter 01 for homework.
