1.6     Thesis Outline

                   This thesis is structured into five chapters as follows;

                   Chapter 1: This chapter covers the background of the study, problem statement,

                   research objectives, research scope and significant of the study.

                   Chapter 2: Describe on the literatures as regard with synthetic and natural fibres,

                   thermoset and thermoplastic matrices, hybrid composites, composite processing

                   techniques, mechanical properties characterisation for tension, flexural, quasi-static
                   indentation, low velocity impact and split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB).

                   Chapter 3: Describe all the experimental work conducted in this research starting with
                   sample preparation technique via vacuum infusion process (VIP) and mechanical

                   properties characterisation under static and dynamic conditions. Related ASTM
                   standards were explained in this section.

                   Chapter 4: Experimental results were explained on the effect of stacking sequence

                   between E-glass/basalt, E-glass/jute and E-glass/flax, effect of hybridisation between
                   hybrid and pure composites and effect of material selection between E-glass with

                   basalt, jute or flax in resisting static (tension, flexural and quasi-static indentation) and
                   dynamic (low velocity impact and SHPB) loadings.

                   Chapter 5: Provide the summary of the findings of this research and recommendation

                   for expanding in the future.
