I was so honored and proud to represent Nebraska at the IC Convention in St. Louis.
Dora, Ken, Karen (my sister) and Haleigh (my niece) had the best time. We spent
time at the ESA Foundation Fun Fest on Tuesday night and then danced the night
away to the United State Air force band on Wednesday night. I had a very memorable moment as I
carried the Nebraska Flag during the Opening Ceremony on Thursday. I enjoyed being part of the
Emerald Inspirations as the State President for our newly installed IC President Sandy Alexander.
There was a new event that occurred at IC Convention this past July. President Sherry Day conducted a
pledge ceremony on Thursday of convention. My niece, Haleigh, my sister’s daughter, received her jewel
pin that originally had been her Grandmother Dora’s pin. I wore it first, then presented to Karen, my sister
in Kimball, NE State Convention when she joined and now it has come full circle to Haleigh. There wasn’t
a dry eye present.
Finally, I was ecstatic to carry the Nebraska St. Jude Total$ of $100,484. Our grand total for ESA donating
to St. Jude in 2016-2017 was a whopping $19,485,427. Our Grand Total for all years donating to St. Jude
is $246 million, 333 thousand and 387 dollars. Isn’t that AWESOME!!
Our next Journey in Nebraska ESA is Fall Council Meeting being held at the Kearney Library on Saturday,
September 30, 2017. The Nebraska Cornhuskers play on Friday night, September 29 . The meeting’s title
th
is “We are all part of the ESA Puzzle”. I am really trying to keep our costs down so that more of our
members can attend. The room is free and I’ll be catering from the Kearney HyVee. We will be serving
muffins and coffee/tea for the registration/gathering hour between 9-10 with the meeting starting at 10
am. Lunch will be a hot potato bar with all the fixings. Phyl has a speaker lined up for our afternoon
activity. I hope many of you are planning to attend this time for fun and reconnection between our
members across the miles of Nebraska.
“Hugging is Healthy. It helps the immune system, cures depression, reduces stress and
induces sleep. It’s invigorating, rejuvenating and has no unpleasant side effects.
Hugging is nothing less than a miracle drug. Hugging is all natural. It is organic, naturally sweet, no artificial
ingredients, nonpolluting, environmentally friendly and 100% wholesome. Hugging is the ideal gift. Great
for any occasions, fun to give and receive, shows you care, comes with its own wrapping tool and, of
course fully returnable.
Hugging is practically perfect. No batteries to wear out, inflation-proof, nonfattening, no monthly
payments, theft-proof and nontaxable. Hugging is an underutilized resource with magical powers. When
we open our hearts and arms, we encourage others to do the same.
Think of the people in your life. Are there any words you’d like to say? Are there any hugs you want to
share? Are you waiting and hoping someone else will ask first? Please don’t wait! Initiate!” … Charles
Faraone from Chicken Soup for the Soul -- I can’t wait to give you all a Hug. See you at the Fall State
Council Meeting.
