MARC Midwest Area Regional Council
Celeste Webb, President
webbfam@consolidated.net
In a small room in Tulsa, the Midwest Area Regional Council was born. MARC,
as it would come to be known, was made up of members from nine state
councils: Great Lakes, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri,
Ohio and Wisconsin. Another meeting was held on April 5, 1986 in Lansing, Illinois to enable
representatives from each state to meet and draft by-laws.
Sounds kind of corny, right? “In a small room in
Tulsa….” But since 1985 MARC has grown to
include 12 states, adding South Dakota, Kansas,
Oklahoma, Nebraska and the Great Lakes in now
Michigan. The focus on our conference is the E in
ESA, Educational. This years’ conference is
October 13 and 14 in Dearborn/Detroit
th
Michigan. Pat Ludwig and LeAnn Wray have
lined up some excellent speakers who are women
entrepreneurs, including Bon Bon Bon and Wigs 4
Kids.
As the incoming MARC president I hope to
promote fellowship, exchange ideas and provide
support wherever necessary. My theme this year is
#staystrong and that is a hash tag reminder we
need in our membership, our philanthropic
endeavors, our educationals and our friendships.
I hope you will consider joining us in October. My
first MARC conference was in October 2012 and I
had so much fun, I wish I had been before then!
It’s what we do in ESA, fun, food, new friends! All
of the conference information can be found on
the Midwest Area Regional Council website. See
you in Detroit.
