19. Close and save the union query,,!s Gross Pay Union Query.
We are now ready to calculate net i>ay. There are many deductions that can go into
the calculation of net pay. We will simplify the calculation by limiting the deductions to
payroll taxes, specifically federal withholding tax (which we will abbreviate as FIT), FICA
(Federal Insurance Corporation Act Tax for Social Security), and Medicare tax. We will
ignore state withholding and other deductions such as medical insurance, retirement, etc.
20. Double-click on Create query in Design view. Click on the Queries tab in the Show
Table window and click on the Gross Pay Union Query. Click Add. Click on the Tables tab.
Click on the Employee Table, the Withholding Table, and the Allowance Table. Click Close.
