¿Qué ventajas ofrece República
Dominicana para la inversión?
Contamos con leyes que ofrecen
atractivos incentivos fiscales para la países, convirtiéndose en el mayor

Fue un foro organizado por el
CEI-RD), entidad adscrita a la
Presidencia de la República, y ha
sido el más ambicioso e importan-
te evento de inversión realizado

¿Cuáles fueron las motivacio-
nes del Foro Inverte en RD 2014?

ridad de que dichas inversiones re-
dundarán en un alto impacto eco-

gía y conocimiento y el dinamismo
de la economía local.
En el marco del Foro estuvimos
coordinando reuniones bilaterales
entre empresas del sector privado,
local y extranjero, así como con
entidades gubernamentales con
el fin de dar a conocer los progra-
mas de incentivos y las propuestas
que ofrece el Estado, con miras a

President Medina has decided to emphasize the strength-
ening of the business climate in the country and that’s
why he is supporting the Center for Export and Investment
(CEI-RD) in the accomplishment of the Investment Sum-
mit of the Dominican Republic “Invest in DR”. The CEI-RD
director, Jean Alain Rodríguez, highlighted the work devel-
oped by the institution in order to strengthen and position
the Dominican Republic as an ideal destination for foreign
direct investment.
What is the Foreign Direct Investment flow towards
the DR?
Our country has become the regional center of attraction
for FDI, which reached US$19,700 millions in the last
eleven years. Foreign investment in the country reached
US$1,990.5 millions during 2013, in line with the average
of the last five years. According to preliminary data of the
Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean
(ECLAC), last year our country consolidated once again as a
leader in attracting FDI in the Caribbean, receiving 50.4 per-
cent of the total foreign investment recorded in the region.
What advantages does the Dominican Republic offer
for investment?
We have laws that offer attractive tax incentives for the
achievement and implementation of foreign investment in
the country, that includ the16-95 Law on foreign invest-
ment, which provides equal treatment to both national and
foreign investors, free repatriation of capital, and free con-
vertibility of currencies and considers investment all tech-
nology transfers.
Other incentives are offered in the areas of export free
zones, tourism and development of the border area, renew-
able energy, sectors of the textile chain and incentives to
persons in retirement age.
What position has the Dominican Republic as a des-
tiny to do business?
The Dominican Republic has received awards at regional
and global level in terms of positioning, promotion and at-
traction of foreign investment in sectors such as: infrastruc-
ture, tourism and renewable energy, among others.
Describe the Summit “Invest in DR 2014”
It is a summit organized by the CEI-RD, seeking to be-
come the most important and ambitious investment
has led the presentation of investment opportunities to
hundreds of potential investors, promoting our country
as the main destination of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)
in the region.
How many investors participated in this event?
Invest in DR 2014 featured the participation of hundreds of
potential foreign investors representing the leading compa-
nies of the world in more than 50 countries, making it the
most ambitious and largest investment event ever held in
the Caribbean region.
What were the motivations in organizing “Invest in
DR 2014”?
The main aim has been to present the investment opportu-
nities in the Dominican Republic to potential local and for-
eign investors in sectors with high growth in the country, with
the assurance that these investments will result in a high
economic and social impact at the national level, through the
generation of foreign exchange and of thousands of direct
and indirect jobs, the transfer of knowledge and technology
and the dynamism of the local economy. In the framework of
the Summit we are coordinating bilateral meetings between
the local private sector and foreign companies, as well as
with governmental entities in order to provide information
on the incentive programs and proposals offered by the
government, with a goal of achieving strategic alliances and
the development of important projects with high impact on
the economic growth and competitiveness of the country.
The Summit is held on September 4th and 5th, at the JW
Marriott Hotel, at Blue Mall in Santo Domingo.
