¿Cuál es el potencial del país en el
área de desarrollo productivo?
Nosotros tenemos aquí una gran ri-
queza y variedad de recursos natura-
les, un ambiente económico, social y
político estable, un gobierno amigo a
la IED, un buen marco legal para la
inversión extranjera, acceso de merca-
do preferencial a los Estados Unidos,
Europa, América Central y el Caribe,
con tratados de libre comercio, tan-
to con EE.UU. y la Unión Europea,
fuerza laboral bilingüe, competitiva,
experimentada y calificada, moder-
na infraestructura de transporte, in-
fraestructura de telecomunicaciones
avanzada y confiable, así como costos
competitivos para hacer negocios en
el país.
¿Qué perspectivas futuras tiene el
país sobre el área de inversión?
El CEI-RD realiza diversas actividades
para incrementar los flujos de IED en
la economía dominicana. Contamos
con una proactiva política de promo-

What prospects does the country has in the field
of investment?
The CEI-RD carries out various activities to increase FDI
flows in the Dominican economy. We have a proactive
policy of promotion which will be reflected in the next
five years. We are currently developing a proactive plan
for the promotion of investment in the country, increa-
sing our participation in local and international events,
such as fairs and forums, receiving delegations of fo-
reign investors and other activities, aiming to maintain
the position of the Dominican Republic as the number
one destination for investment in the region. To achieve
this goal, we rely on the motivation, commitment and
availability of learning of our people; the use of inno-
mental standards and the strengthening of education,
both at the technical and professional level, in response
to the demand of the industries and investors in the
country.
Have this efforts had their effects? Have they
been acknowledged?
Yes, international organisms of great prestige such
as in their “Global Competitiveness Report 2013-
2014”, of the World Economic Forum, considered us
in a privileged position worldwide in terms of quality
of air transportion and port infrastructure. In addition
the “Caribbean and Central American Countries of the
Future 2013-2014”, of the FDI Intelligence of the Fi-
nancial Times that puts us in the second position with
the best strategy for attracting investment from the
region, second best infrastructure, and third in overall
performance for attracting investments and remarkable
growth in the region. The country has received in ad-
dition other awards at regional and global levels by the
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development
(UNCTAD), the Organization of Tourism in the Caribbean
(OTC), Expedia, the Caribbean Association of Invest-
ment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) and the Inter-Ame-
rican Development Bank (IDB).

Sí, organismos internacionales de
gran prestigio como “The Global
Competitiveness Report 2013-2014”,
del Foro Económico Mundial, nos
considera en posiciones privilegiadas
a nivel mundial en cuanto a calidad de
infraestructura de transporte aéreo
y portuario. Además el “Caribbean
and Central American Countries of
the Future 2013-2014”, del FDI Intelli-
gence del Financial Times, nos coloca
en la segunda posición con la mejor
estrategia de captación de inversio-
nes de la región (Best FDI Strategy);
segundo en mejor infraestructura
(Best Infrastructure), y tercero en des-
empeño general para captación de in-
versiones y notable crecimiento (Best
Overall) de la región. El país ha reci-
bido además otros reconocimientos a
nivel regional y mundial por parte de
la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas
sobre Comercio y Desarrollo (UNC-
TAD), la Organización de Turismo del
Caribe (OTC), Expedia, la Asociación
de Agencias de Promoción de Inver-
siones del Caribe (CAIPA) y el Banco
Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID).
