4. There is much superstition surrounding Indigo, such as that indigo dye pots are
alive and a spirit dwells in the Indigo pot. In some place villagers believe that

when the Indigo dyers are old, they will become ghost themselves. Because of
this beliefs, people are afraid to learn Indigo dyeing

5. With the coming of “civilization”, villagers can now wear synthetically dyed
Indigo clothes, bought from the market, without having to dye them themselves.

Also, they can dye their cloth with chemical blue, which is easy to obtain and
simple to use
