Distributor hold‑down clamp bolt 24.5 – 18
9. Connect all ignition control wiring.
10. Install the distributor cap. Ensure that the rotor is still pointing at the number 1 cylinder plug wire terminal.
11. Connect the spark plug wires. Remove any temporary labeling once all wires have been installed and routing confirmed.

Installing/Positioning the Distributor/HVS Rotor in the 5.0L, 5.7L, and 6.2L
ECT Engines
IMPORTANT: Use this procedure when installing a new distributor/HVS or when the distributor/HVS requires repositioning.
Engines Misfire with Low Engine Hours and No Other Active Faults
There have been instances of misfires occurring on 5.0L, 5.7L, and 6.2L ECT engines with relatively low hours and in a certain
power range. The remedy for this particular misfire cause is unique to this issue, so ensure that the situation meets the
following criteria:
• An engine with relatively low hours—30 to 100.
• CDS G3 displays an active 396 Engine Misfire Limit Exceeded fault.
• No other active faults are displayed.
• The misfires are typically apparent when the engine is put under high load, such as when coming on plane, and spark
advance is at its greatest.
