“Yeah, right of course,” the girl said, shaking her head, brushing o the trance she
had been in and snapped back to reality. “For the cure.”
Cassie passed her father and headed towards the table that stood behind him
where a rack of test tubes filled with liquids of clear blue had been. Cassie
rummaged through the drawers and pulled out a syringe. She peeled the plastic
cover it had been secured in, stuck it in its corresponding vial of clear blue liquid -
the same liquid in the test tubes, and pulled back the plunge which transferred all
the liquid into it. She flicked the walls of the syringe where the measuring lines
had been marked at and put back the plastic cover over the needle.
“Here, have this injected into her- MY, my bloodstream and she- I mean I’m good
to go.” Cassie instructed, a puzzled expression on her face as she held out the
syringe.
Archie did not say a word. Instead, he went in for a hug.
“Thank you.” Archie said, his face gleaming with satisfaction.
“Why are you thankful, I mean I’m technically saving myself.”
“Yeah you’re right” He said, finally releasing his daughter from his squeeze.
“Well, you better hurry.”
Cassie shoved the materials on her hands onto her father’s chest and pushed him
into the cubicle. Before locking the door shut, Cassie waved her dad goodbye as
he inputted the numbers “2020” into the keypad.
“See you in ten years?” Archie said with a smug grin which was responded with a
shrug.
