Chapter 2: Social
CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES
Through our Social Committees, staff are encouraged to participate in community and charity events.
In addition to contributing funds to these worthwhile causes, involvement generates strong comradery
among our operational and support teams.
CANSA Shavathon
CANSA Shavathon is one of South Africa’s
best-loved events in support of a very worthy
cause, namely showing solidarity with those
affected by cancer. Losing one’s hair is a
common side-effect of cancer therapy – so
shaving your head has become a symbolic
gesture of support for cancer Survivors. The
shavathon has become a firm favourite among
all Nimble staff.
National Tekkie Tax Day
Since 2013, millions of Rand has been donated
by this NPO to over 185 charitable
organisations by selling stickers and shoelaces
for sports shoe wearers (known in South Africa
as tekkie’s) on one special day each year.
National events like these create a special
connection among South Africans, particularly
within corporates and people at work - and are
a popular fundraiser for the Nimble team.
Community Chest Twilight Run
Our Brickfield Call Centre team lines up for this
5km walk/run fundraiser through the City of Cape
Town, which attracts 8000 participants and
spectators each year. The Twilight Festival - now
in its 35th year is a popular highlight in the Mother
City’s December calendar. Respected organiser,
Community Chest has supported many causes for
over 90 years – and the Twilight run is a uniting
and fun event for all the “Nimblets” at Head Office.
