• High-grade papillary urothelial carcinomas show marked atypia and increased mito-
ses including atypical ones. They have a disorderly architecture and show loss of
nuclear polarity and dyscohesiveness. They have major potential for recurrence and
metastases.
Clinical Features
Painless haematuria, frequency, urgency and dysuria
Complications
Stricture formation, hydronephrosis and pyonephrosis
Prognosis
Depends on tumour grade or blood group antigens (tumour cells expressing A, B and H
antigens have a better prognosis)
