Long ago, the people of Chenur lived a peaceful life. One evening, it began to rain heavily.

The wise chief knew that the village would be f ooded so he asked the villagers to pack and leave.

The strong young men built special carts to carry the elderly. Some carried tools and wood.
Others helped to pack their belongings. Then, the villagers climbed up the hill to safety.

When they reached the top of the hill, the chief told the men to build shelter. The other villagers
helped the men too. After it had stopped raining, the villagers decided to live in their new houses
for good.
