Hello everybody! I am John Wong Jun Quan. I graduated from Tenby International School Setia
EcoHill in the class of 2020, and this is my journey post-Tenby.
Transitioning towards the end of Year 11 in the year 2020, I learnt the true meaning of
expectations versus reality. We were going to finish our secondary schooling with a blast, cry
and celebrate over our IGCSE exam results, spend the final days reminiscing the bittersweet
memories that were made in and out of campus. Out of the blue, a minute, non-sentient being
left us and our plans in shambles. Despite the setbacks, we powered through the final months
of the ordeal with great support from the school, our parents as well as each other. As we
wished each other the best of luck, we parted ways after a night of togetherness and the post-
party depression still hits hard to this day. Graduating as the class of 2020 is something that will
never be forgotten.
Not long after, preparations were made to embark on a new journey towards our future careers.
In a cohort of over hundreds of students, it was an eye-opener for me in my year of pre-
university. The pace of the course after orientation week was nothing like high school. Luckily,
my time in Tenby taught me how to manage my time and work well. In addition, all the
knowledge and skills that I have gained laid the groundwork for a much easier learning
experience throughout the one-year course. During the early months of Year 11, I was still
dwelling on how and what I want to pursue in the future, but my peers already had a plan
stretching beyond what I expected. Regardless, the career guidance and counselling sessions
that were provided by Tenby played an integral role in my decision to pursue a Foundation in
Science. Moreover, the opportunities that I have been presented with taught me numerous
lessons not just academically but also aided in the development of becoming a better person.
I have just recently completed my Foundation in Science at IMU (International Medical
University) and am looking to continue my studies to pursue a career in the healthcare sector. I
am truly grateful and extend my appreciation to Tenby, its amazing teachers, my classmates as
well as family members for guiding me amid times of uncertainty and difficulty. I hope everyone
stays safe and well at home!
