Responsibilities During Thoracentesis
• Assist the doctor during the procedure.
• Continue to pay attention to patients including:-
➢General conditions - observe whether the patient is restless, pale etc. to detect
complications such as circulation shock.
➢Respiratory pattern -to detect whether the patient is in respiratory distress.
➢Pulse count - To detect whether it interferes with heart function.
➢The amount of liquid and its contents.
• Provide emotional support to the patient so that the patient feels cared for and is always
safe.
