Trustees Update

Do you know what the Trustees do? They are a group of individuals who are responsible for the oversight of the
physical assets of the church. At Savoy UMC, the Trustees along with the Maintenance and Grounds Committee and

the Director of Operations work together to make sure the building and grounds are cared for and ready for
ministry. There are many parts to this picture and if you have suggestions or questions about something, please
contact them (Bruce Branham – Trustees - bbranham1@comcast.net; Mark Akers – Maintenance & Grounds –
     msakers@onemain.com; Cecil Billingsley – Director of Operations – cecil@savoyumc.org)

Recently the Trustees have been developing an Investment Policy to help make sure the financial resources
entrusted to us are managed to increase the ministry of the Kingdom of God. The generosity of God has enabled us
to not only pay our expenses, but to have some in reserve. Our goal is not to store up treasures, but to use those

gifts to touch people with the love of God and to overcome the brokenness of this world. We will invest the fruits of
these resources in ministries to transform the world. We ask you to pray and let us know where to build in the
     Kingdom of God.

Additionally, do you realize that our current facility is 15 years old? This facility has served us and our community
well and we want that to continue. We have maintained and updated a few items, but more will need to be done.
The carpet needs to be replaced; a new church vehicle with easier access for all; the large outside HVAC units; the
roof… will all need to be addressed.

You can make a difference today with your gift for tomorrow. Savoy UMC can receive your gifts from IRA’s/
Retirement Plans , Life Insurance Policies, Trusts, Wills, etc. Your gift will bless the church and you receive the

benefit. For more information, please contact Bruce Branham or Pastor Marc.

As our lives have been transformed by the touch of Jesus, so may we continue to allow God to use the gifts
entrusted to us to bring the Kingdom of God to our hurting world.

     Liturgist

In the early church as the ministry was growing and lives were being transformed, the disciples realized they needed
to get others involved in the ministry. When the disciples did this they were able to focus and enable others to use
their gifts to help minister to others. If you doubt, go read Acts 6 and watch how God uses these individuals to

     transform the world.

On Sunday morning, there is an opportunity for you to share in the worship experience by helping with
announcements, reading the call to worship, reading the scripture verse and helping guide us through the transitions
in worship. You could also lead us through the prayer time if you feel so led.

The goal for worship is not about what we are going to get, but for us to come honor and glorify God with our
presence and gifts. I wonder if Stephen stepped into a ministry with an idea of how God was going to use him. I
wonder if he volunteered knowing his story would be captured for the whole world to read about. My guess is he
was like Isaiah, the prophet and so many others who said, “Here I am Lord. Send me.”

If you are willing to be used, let me know and we will work together to bring our gifts before God, so we can glorify
     him!
