Trunk or Treat

Ready to have fun? Have conversations? See amazing children come dressed up to Trick or Treat safely? Sign up
today to provide a “trunk” for these families. You never know how Jesus is going to use you! Maybe he put you

there for just “one” family who needed someone to listen to them. And your response and conversation can make
all the difference in that person’s world. The prayer team will be there. We will be passing out information about
our church. Pastor will be passing out free hot dogs and lemonade. The Savoy Fire Department will have their truck
there. Come and join us. Invite a friend to be a trunk. Invite families to come to this.

Christine Leeb – A well know speaker who will be addressing “Bullying”.
October is National Bullying Month. This is a problem with every family; everywhere. Learn more about bullying
and why it happens. Discuss proactive ways to teach our kids not to be a bully nor to allow someone to bully them.
Share practical, effective, and creative parenting tools to help our kids to resist bullying and to choose to be kind.

You do not have to be a parent to learn about this. Maybe you are an aunt, neighbor, teacher, grandparent… Love

and learn about this in a way that you can be a person that builds up others! Event is Friday, October 11 from 6-
th
8pm in the Crossroads classroom. Childcare is provided. Please let us know if you need childcare by October 6 . To
all the wonderful bakers out there – we would love to have some home- made deserts for this event. Let me
know if you want to make something.

Operation Christmas Child

This will begin on Sunday, October 6 . Boxes will be available then to take home and fill. Sunday school will be
th
doing their packing party on Sunday, October 27 . Sunday school is collecting for teen age items to put in those
boxes – donations of items will be truly appreciated (deflated soccer balls with a pump, baseball hats, sunglasses,
school supplies, hygiene items, flashlights with extra batteries, notebooks, journals, pens, pencils, drawing pads with
colored pencils, tools, carabiner clips and water bottles for the older ones) but we will take any donations of toys,
shoes, underwear, chapstick, hair combs, barrettes, head bands, stickers, washcloths, etc. – the need is great. A

child is only allowed one box per lifetime so please make it special! Boxes need to be filled by November 11 .

Sunday School Meeting

We had to cancel last meeting due to low attendance. I have hopes that more will be willing to attend this one. It is
th
Sunday, October 13 at 11:30. I will provide childcare. Why do we need to meet at all? We need to be in
conversation with each other about teaching our children to walk with Jesus. What does that look like? Prayer,
dismissal, communion Sunday’s, Dig-In, consistency in all we do. Leave when you have to. I will try to have some
food there as it is lunch time. Please let me know if you are or are not coming. I have packets for those who are
attending.

Camp out at Savoy

What? Well, families bring their tents and we all tent on Savoy’s property and share some Jesus time, group games,
dinner, playing, and fellowship with each other. Sitting around a campfire building relationships and laughter and a

lot of burnt marshmallows. This has been done is the past and well liked. We camp out on a Friday night and get up
Saturday and go serve in the community at a specific place. Does that sound like something you would want to be
involved in planning? I would need someone to co-lead on this for it to happen this fall. Otherwise, we can do it in
the early summer.
