definition of a new common standard for a new bus system called “KNX” with the
following features

 forward-compatible to EIB
 an extended set of configuration methods : next to PC based configuration with
ETS, easy configuration e.g. via central controller, code wheels
 a system extension for HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Airco) applications
 new RF and IP media

the European Standardisation of the KNX standard by becoming co-operation partner
to CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation)
the registration of a new trademark “KNX”
the start of a certification procedure for KNX compatible devices

In April 1999 the KNX Association was founded in Brussels with 9 founding members. In
March 2001 the first General Assembly was organised, where the Executive Board
members were appointed for a four year term of office and from their midst a President
and Vice-President were appointed.
