“James, I think this mad man with his grandfather know something about these ruthless,
cold-blooded murders. I felt something was amiss days ago and broke into their house.
They weren’t there but guess what, I saw the same code numbers and the Zodiacs in his
room. Alike Maria’s and Sophie’s. For the past 5 days, they went missing and now, they
returned. Imagine that day on Sophie’s murder, this lunatic man shouted about another
death and now, it happened. I think he’s somehow, linked with this case. He must be the
murderer, James”.
“Blimey, that’s right. Then, why wait? Let’s go arrest and enquire that bloody criminal, sir”.
“On what reason, James? He’s already a proven berserk, mad man. It’s usual for mad people
to scribble their walls with whatsoever they think. Even if we do arrest him, he could use
his mental state and bail out. Unless, we cook up false evidence against him”.
“How’s that possible, sir?”
“I have an idea. I remembered stealing a knife from his room when I broke into his house.
His fingerprint must have imprinted on it. Send it to forensics to get a proof of verification
of his fingerprint. Then, all we have to do is forge a false report that this knife was found on
the crime spot and the rest of his fate would have been defined by then”.
“Great plan, sir. I’ll get the reports. Don’t worry”.
Three days later, with all the evidence justified, I arrested the lunatic.
“Why are you people arresting my grandchild? What wrong did he do?”, asked the elderly
grandfather.
“Don’t try to act smart, old man. Your grandchild is the reason behind all three deaths. A
knife imprinted with his fingerprints was found on the crime spot. Your grandchild is
caught red-handed”, I told.
“We went out of station few days before the murder and just returned three days ago. We
went for his treatment. Trust me”.
“That silly reason you’re telling us is a well-planned, cooked up story of yours. You think we
would believe that?”
After days of standing trials to court, the mentally unstable man was ordered to spend the
rest of his life in a psychiatric hospital. People of 19th Avenue Street were so relieved on
that verdict. “At last, I have put all this to an end”, I thought with satisfaction. Everything
went flawless ever after until one day, all the concealed confession came to bright light.
