“Sir, you need backup?”

“No. That would only alert the murderer. I’ll go by myself.”

On the very first light of 23rd August, the landline of my police station gave a loud round of
ring. Much to my utter horror, I was informed that there was a dead body of a female
teenager found scathed in the mansion. I rushed to the spot with thousands of questions,

invading my mind. Upon reaching there, I saw the corpse of an unfamiliar young female
adult with the same code numbers and a Scorpio, hugely besmirched with blood on the
wall. On seeing that, I was transfixed. I felt like my blood drained to a bottomless pit. This
female teenager, lying dead in the mansion was not in my list. The murderer switched his
pattern in all of a sudden. I hurriedly drove to my police station and fumingly called James.

“James! How can this happen? The murderer somehow, knew my traps beforehand and
executed his plans well enough. He didn’t hunt the teenagers I thought he would but he

went for another. How’s that possible? How did he come to know that? Tell me something”.

“I’ve no idea, sir. All this while we thought he targeted adopted female teenagers of 19th
Avenue Street but the one dead today belonged to 27th Avenue Street, sir. He tricked us
        well enough”.

“If that’s the case, we aren’t able to track him down. He’s target isn’t just focused on 19th
Avenue. He will target any adopted females around the city as his next quench of thirst for

blood. The only thing’s common in his murders was the mansion”.

“Then, let’s besiege the mansion for the next 6 days, sir. Maybe longer. That would put this
        to an end”.

“No, it wouldn’t. If he knows we are waiting for him in the mansion, he would just change his
location deliberately. That would further jeopardise this case and he’ll be out of reach for
        the rest of his life”.

“So, what are we supposed to do, then, sir?”

Suddenly, our heated conversation was interrupted by Roy. He came barging into my
        office.

“Sir, they’re back. The mad man and his grandfather. They’re back at home”.

A tinge of fright ran through spine. I felt my heart beating violently against my chest. “They

weren’t here for the past 5 days and suddenly, they appeared out of nowhere after this
        murder”, I thought.
