               Say it in Japanese
               You are in a doctor’s office.
               1. I have a headache and a fever.
               2. I have a stomachache and have little appetite (do not want to eat much).
               3. It may not be a big deal, but I cough a lot. Do you suppose I have a cold?

               4. I’ve been taking medicine for a week, but it doesn’t get better at all.
               5. I have pain in my right shoulder and lower back.


               A friend is sick. Offer your advice.
               6. You’d better take medicine and rest.
               7. You’d  better  go  to  the  hospital,  although  it  may  not  be  serious  (not  a  big
                    deal).

               8. You’d better not to go to work today.
               9. You’d better eat something. I’ll make something. Do you have any allergies
                    (to food)?
               10. You’d better not worry about anything (things). Get well soon.


               EXERCISE 4

               Role Play
               1. Ask the following people what is wrong and ask if they are okay.
                    1) a stranger;
                    2) a friend

               2. You  have  cold-like  symptoms. Explain them to a  co-worker and ask if he
                    thinks you should see a doctor (go to a hospital).
               3. Tell the doctor the following:
                    1) your medical history;
                    2) your family’s medical history and
                    3) general physical traits that run in your family.
               4. A friend is struggling with a foreign language class. Offer her your advice as

                    to how to improve proficiency.
               5. A friend just collapsed and does not respond. Get help.
