Concerts at
Ancient Sites
Whether it’s a mournful
classical cello or a funky
jazz concert, ancient venues
are made for music. Often
organized by locals, these
atmospheric events are held
everywhere from the ancient

GREEK ISLANDS
AFTER DARK
Life on the Greek Islands continues at full speed after dark,
particularly in summer when the sun sets late. The climate is
balmy, most places are still open, and the night is full of possibility,
whether you want to ramble about ruins or rumba to rebetiko.
Full Moon at the Ruins
Ancient ruins and castles are
magic by moonlight; but even
if the moon isn’t shining, most
sites are atmospherically lit
up by floodlights. At the full
moon in August, the national
archaeological service grants
free admission to many major
ancient cities and palaces, and
there’s music and dancing at
numerous other sites. Find
out which sites are open at
www.culture.gr.
