Resort Life
Three magical words: all-inclusive resorts.
The Greek Islands have a number of these,
many of which are explicitly aimed at families,
including Mark Warner on Límnos, Kos and
Rhodes; Kiani Beach or Minoa Palace on Crete;
and Mayor Pelekas on Corfu. With options
ranging from cheap and cheerful to super
luxurious, and from beachfront hotels to
inland hideaways, they take the stress
out of keeping the kids entertained with
childrens’ pools and play areas, kids’ clubs,
watersports facilities and babysitting
services. Perfect for relaxing, they also
make a great base for venturing out to
explore the local sights.

Bringing History
into the Present
While some museums, such
as Iráklio Archaeological
Museum (p258), have
exhibitions so cool they’ll
captivate under-12s, most
lack hands-on experiences or
interactive displays. Best,
then, to head for the castles
dotted throughout the Greek
Islands, like the Palace of the
Grand Masters (p166), or more
dramatic ruins, such as the
acropolis at Líndos (p174).
Did You Know?
There are waterparks
across the islands,
including three on Crete
and two each on Kos
and Zákynthos.
