Dive into the Dodecanese
Running deeper into the Aegean, the Dodecanese (p152) are often
barren islands with dramatic cliffs and aquamarine waters; the
islands are spaced out here, so pick a few that are nearer together.
It’s hard to resist the history, monasteries and towns of Rhodes
(p162), which combine well with picturesque Sými (p196) or rug-
ged Kárpathos (p198). Consider, too, the tantalizing variety of
the northern islands, including the sponge-haven of Kálymnos
(p192), holy Pátmos (p158), and smaller islets like Lipsí (p182).
