Postpositions
               English prepositions (in, on, with etc) are placed before nouns
               and pronouns. In Hindi and Urdu they are placed after nouns
               and  pronouns and are called ‘postpositions’. They may be
               simple, one-word postpositions or compound postpositions,
               made up of more than one word. Examples are:
                 simple                 compound
                 kō  to                 ke pās  at          HOW THE LANGUAGE WORKS
                 kā  of                 ke sāth  with
                 me in                  ke liye  for
                 par at                 ke bāhar outside
                 se  from, by           ke andar inside
                 ne  ‘agent marker’
                 tak  until, up to
               Nouns and pronouns take the oblique case when they are fol-
               lowed by a postposition:                      N
                     uske kamre me      saRak par
                     in his/her room    on the road
                        gāRī seR       dōst ke sāth          Postpositions
                        by train       with a friend
                       jApur ke liye
                       for Jaipur
               The word kō is used to mark times of the day and days of the
               week, where English uses ‘on’ or ‘at’:
                 āp shām kō kyā kar rahe hA?
                 what are you doing in the evening?
                 āp itvār kō kitne baje jāyegi?
                 at what time will you be leaving on Sunday?
