MAGNIFICENT MANE
The maned wolf – in the
genus Chrysocyon – is
different from all other
members of the dog family in
that its tail is very short and
its legs are longer than the
length of its body. This animal
is not a wolf and it is not a
fox, though it is sometimes
called the “stilt-legged fox.”
The maned wolf lives in the
tall grass and woodlands of
southern Brazil and hunts by
pouncing on small animals.
