Getting off to a successful start helped set the pace for the success of the
Varsity Basketball Team. Coached by Courtney Fusz, the girls had the opportunity
to heighten their experience as basketball players. Led by Captain Danielle
Dimitriou, the team began the season by bringing home the Tournament Champi
onship trophy from the Westlake Tourney. With a mixture of ages making up the
team, the girls came together and shared the same goals: to play to their potential,
and to win. By sticking to these goals, the girls turned heads on the court this year.
Stepping up this season were juniors Jamie Connors and Taylor McKenna, scoring,
rebounding, and stealing whenever they had the opportunity, leaving a positive
outlook for next year.
Under the leadership of Co-captains Kaitlin Tierney and Megan Breen, the
JV Basketball team has emerged into a fierce squad to be reckoned with, that will
surely carry HC Basketball in the up-coming years. Guided by first year coach John
Baldini, the girls have worked hard and practiced long hours to achieve a success
ful season. Nine freshmen made the team, showing the caliber of the athletes that
are presented here at Holy Child. Many of the girls who participate on travel
teams have time to sharpen their skills and mechanics and in turn are top-notch
when they step on the court in their school gym. Tierney and Breen make their
presence known on the court and are both fine examples of dedicated and diligent
leaders. Attitude reflects leadership, and it shows with this team.
