THE INSID
On September 24, 2000, Dr. David carolflem ing
Richter's grandson, Elijah Oscar Rich
ter, at two years and eight months of
age died in an accident. This was the
first grandson and since he was the first,
he was given the tradition middle name
that had been handed down to the old
est son for five generations-since the
first Richter immigrated to America.
Dr. Richter said, "In the days follow
ing Elijah's death, many verses from
scripture gave comfort and strength to
the family. Of course, the book of Job
provide special comfort." In the two
years that have followed this horren
dous experience, Dr. Richter has been
blessed by God's faithful restoration.
While no other child (nor number of
children) can ever replace another, he
cannot help but be grateful that God
has, since Elijah's death, blessed the
Richter family with two more grandsons
and the second granddaughter in Janu
ary, 2003.
