his group of twenty-four men had a bond like no other. Not only
did they share the stress of schoolwork and their Christian faith,
but also they experienced the glory of winning and the heartbreak of
losing. During the regular season, they played fifteen games. Out of
those games, the men won eleven, tied two, and lost two. After nine
years of coaching at the college, Coach Phil Larsen has given up his
coaching responsibilities. Mr. Bates assumes that duty for next
season. “I would have to say that it was a
standout season and that it was a highlight season
of all of the nine years 1 have coached here. It
was a highlight because this was the best-behaved
and most spiritually-minded group that I have
coached. Most of the young men on this team
have made great spiritual progress as individuals.
Phis team got along with each other very well.
You never knew whom you would find sitting
together at a meal or on the bus. I also believe
that they had a good testimony whenever we
were on the road or in public. I believe that
many of these young men will be in ministry or
in leadership positions in their churches in the
future.” The testimony of these
