Dr. Gary Smith joins a peer teaching
activity in his Curriculum and Instruc
tion class. Education was one of the
main focuses at the college, and a
unique aspects was training teachers.
Dr. Smith, one of our dynamic profes
sors, was the chair of the division of
Education. Receiving his Bachelor's de
gree in Bible at CCC in 1975, Dr. Smith
returned in 1992 to work in the devel
opment department. He has spent the
last five years teaching, something he
said he always wanted to do, ever since
grad school. Dr. Smith has taught a
variety of grade levels. He said, "1 love
teaching on the college level because
of the students' potential to influence
the future generation."
Students love Dr. Smith, and he
said he enjoys teaching students im
mensely. "Students here are willing to
learn and want to learn." He has great
expectations for the students and com
mented, "I think they will be success
ful. We expose them to the real world
through internships at public schools.
We are also training them from a Chris
tian perspective with a total world view,
because we teach them the spiritual
dimensions as well."

ably at a Christian school.
