inning Regionals was a highlight of the season. The men played
their hardest and brought home the first place banner. Soon after,
the team headed for Kissimmee, Florida, for the National Cham
pionship. They won the first game against Philadelphia Biblical Uni
versity by one goal made by Thomas Bates. Unfortunately, in the sec
ond game the team lost to Northland Baptist Bible College, which
went on to win the championship by only one goal. Instead of giving
up, the men went on to defeat Baptist Bible College of Clark Summit,
Pennsylvania, giving them the third place title. “Most people saw the
national semifinal game against Northland as the championship; every
player contributed to the team’s success,” said
Coach Larsen. There was an amazing turn out of
fans for the tournament games. They came out
on all three nights, many of the students staying
overnight at the hotels approved by the college.
Liz Donnelly, a regular at the games, said, “After
going to all the soccer games this season, I can
honestly say I enjoyed watching the guys play as a .V.VJRP
team and uphold their Christian testimonies. The
men improved greatly towards the end of the sea
son, and it was great to see how they encouraged
one another on the field instead of tearing one
another down. The regional and national tour
naments were my favorite; our team played well
and had the best attitudes.”
LAURENCE O'DONNELL, A "GOD BLESSED US WITH A
freshman, was the starting goal great year, and it was the desire
keeper. He has played soccer of our team to give all praise
since the second grade. and glory to Him. Being a part
of this team was an exciting
challenge and definitely a re
warding one. Thank you, Coach
Larsen, Coach Bates, and se
niors for a great year,” said
Chris Carver.
