                4.5. Irregular verbs



                There are only a few common verbs that have considerable

                irregularities  of  inflection.  The  verbs  kuru  (kimasu)  ‘comes’

                and suru (shimasu) ‘does’ are irregular in the plain imperfect
                itself.  (We  would  expect  something  like  *ki-ru  and  *shi-ru  if

                the verbs were regular.) Nearly everywhere else these verbs
