Romana; la apertura de la Circunva-
lación Norte, en Santiago, con una
extensión de 26 kms, están entre las
principales obras puestas en servicio
por el Gobierno desde el año 2012 a
la fecha.
Entre las obras terminadas y en eje-
cución están más de 700 escuelas,
16 kilómetros de muro de gaviones
construidos, 401 obras iniciadas, 256
terminadas, 20 puentes construidos
y rehabilitados, y 35 edificaciones in- te del Ministerio de Obras Públicas
tervenidas.
“En la actualidad se construye la
avenida de Circunvalación del Gran
Santo Domingo, con una extensión
de 76 kilómetros, que se espera esté
concluida la primera etapa para fi-
nes de este año, y en su totalidad
para 2016”, explicó Castillo.
En seguridad vial, el Ministerio de
Obras Públicas ha brindado asisten-
cia en más de 38 mil casos a través de
la Comisión Militar y Policial.
En Santo Domingo
En cuanto a obras construidas y en-
tregadas en el Gran Santo Domingo
están la reconstrucción, asfaltado y
señalización de calles y avenidas, el
elevado y distribuidor de tráfico de
la avenida Ecológica sobre la avenida
Charles De Gaulle; el distribuidor
que da acceso al Merca Santo Do-
mingo, reparación de los puentes
Duarte, Sánchez y Mella, y el Presi-
dente Troncoso, que comunica la Ca-
pital como la región Sur, así como la
reconstrucción del Paseo Marítimo
30 de Mayo.
Región Norte
En las 14 provincias que conforman
el Cibao Central, el Nordeste y la Lí-
nea Noroeste, el Ministerio de Obras
Públicas ha construido puentes, ca-
rreteras, caminos vecinales, asfalta-
do y señalizado vías.
En relación a la carretera Joaquín
Balaguer, que conecta a Santiago
con Navarrete, el ministro Gonzalo
Castillo afirmó que se hará su re-
construcción total, al igual que con
la carretera Navarrete-Puerto Plata.
Región Este
En la región Este, Obras Públicas
ejecuta el más ambicioso programa
de infraestructura vial, desde Báva-
ro a Punta Cana, y de Uvero Alto a
Miches, que también conecta a Santo
Domingo con la región Nordeste.
Castillo recordó que en su discurso
ante la Asamblea Nacional el 27 de
febrero de este año, el Presidente
Medina destacó: “El trabajo eficien-
hizo posible la entrega al sector tu-
rístico en 2013 del Boulevard Turís-
tico del Este, desde el Aeropuerto
de Punta Cana hasta Uvero Alto; la
Circunvalación de La Romana; la
carretera San Pedro de Macorís-La
Romana; la Circunvalación de San
Pedro de Macorís y la carretera de
acceso a Uvero Alto”. Expresó que
ahora el Gobierno invierte US$265
millones para completar 111 kilóme-
tros para conectar la carretera Uvero
Alto-Miches con el Boulevard Turís-
tico del Este.
Región Sur
Actualmente está en fase de cons-
trucción la Circunvalación de Azua,
que tendrá 14 kilómetros y este año
se dará inicio a la Circunvalación de
Baní, de 13 kilómetros. Ambas obras
formarán parte del Corredor Vial
del Sur para fortalecer el comercio
en la región y con la vecina Repúbli-
ca de Haití, segundo socio comer-
cioal del país.
El titular de Obras Públicas explicó
que los trabajos contemplan la re-
habilitación de los tramos desde la
salida de Baní hasta la entrada de
Azua, con una extensión de 43.7 ki-
lómetros, y desde la salida de Azua
hasta el km15, con 13.51 kilómetros.
Las inversiones del Gobierno en
obras viales tienen una elevada tasa
de retorno, pues las buenas condicio-
nes de avenidas, calles y carreteras
hacen posible una conectividad de
transporte terrestre de gran atracti-

East, including the eastern highway and Romana’s beltway;
the opening of the Northern beltway in Santiago, with an area
of 26 kms,are among the major works put into service by the
Government since 2012 to date.
Among the works completed and in progress are more than
700 schools, 16 kilometers of gabions wall built, 401 works
initiated, 256 completed, 20 bridges built and rehabilitated
and 35 intervened buildings.
“Today the Beltway Avenue of Great Santo Domingo is being
constructed, with a length of 76 kilometers, of which the first
phase is expected to be completed by the end of this year,
and finished in its entirety by 2016,” said Castillo.
In road safety, the Ministry of Public Works has assisted in more
than 38,000 cases through the Military and Police Commission.
In Santo Domingo
In terms of works constructed and delivered in the great Santo
Domingo,there’s rebuilding,paving and signaling of street and
boulevards; the overpass of the Ecologic Avenue over Charles
de Gaulle avenue; the access to Merca Santo Domingo, re-
pairs in the Duarte, Sanchez and Mella bridges, and President
Troncoso, that connects the capital with the South region, as
well as the reconstruction of the promenade 30 de Mayo.
Northern Region
In the 14 provinces that makes up Central Cibao, the Northeast
and the Northwest, the Ministry of Public Works has built brid-
ges, highways, roads, paved and signposted routes.
Regarding the Joaquín Balaguer road connecting Santiago with
Navarrete, Minister Gonzalo Castillo said it will undergo a total
reconstruction, as with the Navarrete-Puerto Plata highway.
East Region
In the Eastern region, Public Works executed the most am-
bitious program of road infrastructure from Bavaro to Punta
Cana, and Uvero Alto to Miches, which also connects Santo
Domingo with the Northeast region.
Castillo recalled that, in his speech to the National Assembly o
February 27 of the present year, President Medina had said:
“The efficient work of the Ministry of Public Works made it
possible to deliver the tourism sector in 2013 the Boulevard
Turístico del Este,from the Punta CanaAirport to UveroAlto; La
Romana; the road from San Pedro de Macoris to La Romana;
Alto “. He said that now the government invests US$265 mi-

Southern Region
Currently, the Azua beltway is under construction, which will

The head of Public Works explained that the work includes
the rehabilitation of sections from Baní to the entrance of
Azua, with an area of 43.7 km, and from Azua’s exit to Km.
